2022 - Spatiu in numbers
As 2022 comes to an end, we reflect on the key numbers that shaped the year here at Spatiu. What follows are highly interesting oddities on our clients’ taste in massage and more!
364,5 hours is the total time amount of massages we gave throughout 2022
Californian massage, averaging 173 appointments, was the most popular
Kobido massage, at 61 appointments, was the least popular
15 x 120’ massage sessions is the highest ranking score of our most loyal client

80 cancellations (mostly no-show ups) were registered this year

Over the last year we’ve also been closed for the entire month of February, in order to attend a yoga teacher training which will in turn allow us to offer group yoga classes beginning 2023.
Back in January we tested a private sale on a niche platform called Choose, where we managed to sell around 70-80 appointments. This was quite good and allowed for an advance of cash to finance some of the operational costs in February when the salon was closed and not generating any revenue.
Since September we’ve been amping up our PR efforts and hired an agency to manage press and influence in Paris. Whilst this is a very expensive endeavour for a small business the size of Spatiu, we see it as an investment and can’t wait to take a breather once the contract is over in early 2023.
To combat no-shows ups, we’ve introduced a pay-in-advance policy on all appointments. This can be seen as somewhat extreme, but our time is as precious as anyone else’s, so we are determined to honor it well. Since the new policy came in place end of November, no-show ups dropped to zero and most of our clients were still happy to pay online. Phew!
For 2023 we want to focus more on the yoga side of the business. Massage will stay at the core of Spatiu, but we are aware of our need to diversify. While yoga does come from Tudor’s passion for teaching, we are actively looking at other avenues - admittedly more digital in nature - for expansion. We are also taking the year to start reflecting on Spatiu 2.0, which will get unveiled mid 2024 when we move out of our current location at 34 tournelles and into something new!
