Washing Your Face — It’s the Little Things That Add Up

Ritual #2 Washing Your Face Daily, Mornings and Evenings

Ritual #2

Washing Your Face, On a Daily Basis, Mornings and Evenings

We all know people that don’t wash their face and still have a great glow. Must be their genes! But still, when you think about the amount of dirt and pollution we face on a daily basis, adopting this ritual starts seeming like a rather good plan for life.

Benefits of Washing Your Face Daily

Number one, cleaner skin. But perhaps more importantly, number two, more richly hydrated skin. Because when you wash your face, you also nourish your skin with the cream or oil you apply post-wash. And so, this ritual gives your skin two daily (well-deserved!) portions of nutriments that foster its well-being.

Step by Step Ritual

Prepare your face. Headband or hair tie will keep your mane out of the way during the wash.

Pour some product in your hand then start massaging your face.

Be creative with your gestures.

Follow your natural contour, insist around the nose, chin and other such areas that can be hidden away or more stressed than others.

Rinse with hot water.

Dry face with your favorite towel.

Apply a cream or an oil, you want to nourish your skin after each wash.

Product wise, choose what makes you happy. Look for clean, rich-in-nutriment options. Read the ingredients, see if you identify with the brand’s values. Check if you like the packaging, the experience of holding the product, the way it comes out of the container. All these little things add up to create a satisfying moment for the senses, and even get you excited about this daily ritual.

With time, your skin will look and feel better and better. All the time and dedication you put into taking great care of your face will pay sweet dividents.

Oiling Yourself — Step by Step Ritual to Oil Your Whole Body

Ritual #1 Oiling Your Whole Body, Also Known as Abhyanga

Ritual #1

Oiling Your Whole Body, Also Known as Abhyanga

Oiling yourself can get a bit messy and is best done at home. But when you get to oil your whole body, that means you are at home - and not away for work or other such chores - and what better feeling than being chez soi and able to take the time for self care?

Benefits of Oiling Your Whole Body

To oil yourself is to receive the gift of a softer skin but also, more importantly, a softer way of treating your body. The act of touching and feeling every inch of yourself for ten uninterrupted minutes will bring back kindness and appreciation like you have never experienced before (because you have probably never spent that much intentional time touching your total you).

Step by Step Ritual

Warm your oil, either in a dedicated machine, or simply by placing the oil bottle in some hot water for a few minutes.

Put on your favorite playlist. Oiling your body will take about ten minutes in total and you want to be in the right mood for it.

Start with your feet, calves, knees. and thighs. Complete both sides (left&right), working small amounts of oil into the skin with delicate yet assured movements.

Continue with your face, ears and neck. A small amount will suffice for this section. Avoid the eyes, insist around the jaw, get your oily fingers inside the ears and the nose (each nostril).

Next, your private parts. Embrace the hairs, be delicate, apply oil everywhere, delicately but assuredly.

Then, your arms, hands, fingers, armpits, chest. Your belly, your back, your sides (ribs area), and your shoulders. Insist around the lower back and the shoulder pads. Much tension lies there…

Now that you have oiled up the whole body, address any bits that were left untouched. Then, final move, massage your whole body from toe to head, in a harmonising, unifying overall gesture.

Oiling complete! You can now jump straight into the shower, or even better, wait up to 20 minutes for the oil to nourish your body.
